La Estación de Ferrocarriles. (Durango, Capital)
The train station. (Durango, Durango,Mexico)
In the Capitol city of Durango, Durango, you can find it’s beautiful train station. The station originally opened in 1892 when the first train pulled in from Torreon, Coahuila.
The station has received one major facelift in it’s history. Starting in 1919 and completed in 1925. The grand opening ceremony was attended by many dignitaries and presided over by the then President of Mexico, Plutarco Elias Calles.
Some of the station’s rich history include being the set of several movies such as, «Cristiadas» and «Bandidas» starring Salma Hayek.
Today as you approach the facade of the station you are greeted by lovely cornices and balustrades. Inside, the first thing you notice is the sweeping ceiling height and open space, the ceilings are twice the normal height, next you will see the large National Seal of Mexico and the State Seal of Durango. Enjoy.
