In total, the region has 10 automatic respirators, distributed in three hospitals, to serve 13 municipalities
Together with Ocotlán and La Barca, the Community Hospital of Jocotepec has been designated to receive serious Covid-19 cases.
Miguel Cerna.- The Jocotepec Community Hospital is one of the three local hospitals designated to receive seriously ill patients with coronavirus (Covid-19) from the region. Ramiro Gil Pérez, director of the Sanitary Region IV, reported that there are 10 respirators in the area to for those who require hospitalization: three in the La Barca Regional Hospital, four in the Maternal and Ocotlán Hospital and three more in the Jocotepec Community Hospital.
“We hope we don’t have any, but we have three respirators available in Jocotepec,” he said, explaining that, “ respirators are automatic ventilators used in patients that arrive in very serious conditions and require isolation and intubation with artificial respiration. We have three teams to care for these patients. «
The hospital will continue to operate normally, since the isolation area for potentially serious Covid-19 patients will have an independent entrance to avoid contagion. “In the other areas, care will continue to be given to patients who require it,” he said, “patients with decompensated diabetes and all chronic degenerative and surgical needs will be treated normally.” The Covid-19 isolation area of the hospital will have its own entrance so Covid-patients will not contact other patients.
In Jalisco, the Fray Antonio Alcalde Hospital -Civil Viejo- will be the receiving center for seriously ill patients. In the Región Sanitaria, these three local hospitals will be in charge of receiving, hospitalizing and referring to possible cases in the 13 municipalities that make up the area. Private doctors and medical clinics in Lakeside are also sending patients with medical insurance or ability to pay out of pocket to hospitals in Guadalajara or Zapopan.
Although Ramiro Gil Pérez assured people that the region is prepared with the necessary infrastructure, material and human resources, he asked the citizens to follow the guidelines to avoid contagion.
“The truth is that what I would like is that we have respect for this disease, that we are not afraid of it, but that we have respect for it. We know that it exists, we know that there is, the evidence is there and the sanitary measures that have been heard in the multiple means of dysfunction; so that they carry them out, that they do not grab the streets as if it were a normal day, that they keep a healthy distance and that they take healthy accommodation at home, «he concluded.
