 Las selecciones de Chapala y Jocotepec, se enfrentaron con intensidad en el Campo Municipal Juan Rayo, el domingo 8 de Mayo. El clásico ribereño concluyó con un empate a ceros.

Jazmín Stengel.- Mucha intensidad, pocos goles. Las Selecciones de Chapala y Jocotepec dieron todo hasta el último minuto; sin embargo, el marcador se decidió en ronda de penales a favor de los locales con un marcador de 4 – 3.

A pesar de que Chapala dominó la mayor parte del partido, Jocotepec lo hizo en los últimos minutos del primer tiempo. 

Los ataques por parte de ambos equipos fueron muchos, sin embargo ninguno logró marcar un gol en el tiempo regular. 

Dos tarjetas amarillas y un lesionado fue el saldo del primer enfrentamiento entre Chapala y Jocotepec esta Copa Jalisco 2022. 

El marcador final se decidió en tanda de penales. 

La selección de Chapala triunfó con 4-3 

Cerca de 300 personas asistieron al clásico ribereño del año este fin de semana. 

Grupos de amigos y familias asistieron a ver el juego. 

La porra de Jocotepec también presentó una considerable asistencia al partido. 

En el medio tiempo, las jugadoras de las selecciones Chapala e Ixtlahuacán femeniles asistieron a ver el juego.

Sofía Medeles (Ajijic).- Ajijic has a reputation for being a center of artists, not only in painting, but also in music. Currently, the rap music genre has influenced it’s new generations,  demonstrated by  Diego Zamora, 11 years old, Cristian Axel Rochin, 12, and Jorge Ramón Rochin, 9, three children who decided to start their career as rappers. Their artistic names are: Dj Kid, Dj Azteca and Dj George and they acquired a taste for rap and an intention to perform it from an early age.

It was not until recently that they put it into practice, attending the Cochera Cultural art center in Ajijic where different workshops are taught for children in the San Sebastian neighborhood, north of the town of Ajijic. «We are the only ones who rap in the garage. (Cochera Cultural).  Our favorites are Santa Fe Klan and Gera MX –  they inspire us», they told Laguna.

Their first performance in front of an audience was last Friday, April 22, as part of the Earth Day commemoration program, in the main square of Ajijic. The three children had a space to share their rhymes, which were applauded by the audience.

«We were nervous, but once we finished we felt calm. Our teacher told us to put all our energy into the presentation. We don’t know when we will perform again with an audience like this, but this last time made us feel more encouraged,» shared Dj Kid.

The three kids, who say they are in the process of recording an album at the Cochera Cultural, said they would also like to publish their songs on video platforms such as YouTube. They also advised their contemporaries to continue with their goals, and to get support from teachers to increase their skills.

The artist from Ajijic and teacher of some of the workshops for children at the Cochera Cultural,  Artistic Director Antonio López Vega, commented that the project is aimed at children from the San Sebastián neighborhood and its surroundings, with workshops on children’s painting, papier-mâché, ceramics, among others, as well as the music workshop taught by Eleazar Soto and the dance workshop with teacher Emilia Gálvez.

These workshops are held on Saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon and are free of charge. Antonio Lopez said  that the program is happy to accept donations in kind for the children, for example, paper for painting, brushes of different sizes, etcetera.

Sofía Medeles.– Con éxito y buenos comentarios de los asistentes, aunque con muy poca participación local, se llevó a cabo la primera conmemoración del Día de la Tierra en Ajijic. Mediante una serie de conferencias y actividades, se buscó concientizar a los asistentes sobre el cuidado del medio ambiente durante tres días.

Durante la celebración, que tuvo lugar los días 22, 23 y 24 de abril, hubo una asistencia aproximada de entre 500 y 600 personas, es decir, de 150 a 200 personas cada día. Aunque mayormente asistieron adultos, también hubo varios niños interesados.

El primer día se inició con una ceremonia de apertura, la cual consistió en pedir permiso a los elementos y deidades para realizar respetuosamente las actividades programadas; y el último día, durante la clausura, se le hizo un tributo y ofrenda al Lago de Chapala.

Las conferencias fueron con activistas que han logrado salvaguardar la integridad tanto del vaso lacustre como de las montañas, por ejemplo, Manuel Villagómez Rodríguez, Luis Valdivia Ornelas, Raquel Gutiérrez Nájera y el ajijiteco Julio Carmona; por otro lado, también hubo presentaciones musicales cinematográficas, y puntos informativos y venta de productos ecológicos.

“Creo que el evento fue efectivo tanto en la calidad profesional y académica de los presentadores. Creo que fue muy ambicioso hacerlo en tres días ya que demanda una mayor afluencia de público. Hubo tres enfoques relevantes que surgieron del evento: que se puede y se ha podido ganar batallas de este tipo, que se necesita urgentemente que el Lago de Chapala se convierta en sitio Ramsar, que se haga un mapeo de áreas en peligro y reservadas, donde se defina dónde no comprar o construir, petición que fue solicitada por la comunidad extranjera de manera colectiva”, compartió Noris Binet, una de las organizadoras. No obstante, el Lago de Chapala ya es considerado sitio Ramsar, es decir un humedal de suma importancia en el planeta.

Por su parte, Sihara Casillas Gaeta, otra de las organizadoras, comentó que este tipo de eventos ayuda a conocer el tipo de terrenos en las que la población vive, en este caso cuerpos acuíferos, y hacer un recuento de cómo la corrupción ha contribuido al deterioro de depósitos naturales de agua, lo cual ayuda a estar más al pendiente.

Jane Custer, quien fue la encargada de hacer las traducciones en el evento, compartió que le dio mucho gusto ver a la comunidad mexicana y extranjera de Ajijic, juntos en un lugar, además de adquiriendo conocimiento para proteger el Lago y el medio ambiente.

Noris manifestó que, en los próximos años, cree que el evento podría mejorar en cuanto a la participación local, involucrando desde los vecinos hasta miembros de comunidades indígenas, hablando de sus problemáticas relacionadas con temas medioambientales. Sus planes en puerta son hacer un documento oficial donde se recapitulen los puntos más importantes del evento que será presentado ante las autoridades gubernamentales, así como la creación de un observatorio ciudadano y académico para la supervisión y denuncias en materia de destrucción del medio ambiente.

Este evento se llevará a cabo el próximo sábado 30 de abril en el malecón de San Juan Cosalá, con el propósito de revivir la tradición de la creación de papalotes para volarlos con los vientos de primavera.

Aunque la iniciativa nació, según los organizadores, con la idea original de pintar y decorar las bancas del malecón, creando una convocatoria abierta a artistas, al final se optó por revivir la tradición de los papalotes.

Fue así que se emprendió la tarea de encontrar patrocinadores y personas de la comunidad que han apoyado el proyecto, pues aunque los materiales no son caros, “si hay un costo por más mínimo que sea”, aseguró la entrevistada.

Según la organizadora la respuesta ha sido buena y agregó que, el festival se llevará a cabo sobre el malecón a partir de las 10:00 de la mañana y se tiene contemplada una participación de entre 100 y 150 niños.

El requisito es que los infantes deben ir acompañados de al menos un adulto, pues la intención además de unir a la familia, es que apoyen a los pequeños en la construcción de su propio papalote, para después aprender a volarlo juntos.

El evento, aseguró la entrevistada, será completamente gratuito, no será necesario que los niños lleven material, pues todo lo necesario para elaborar la cometa se les brindará por parte de los organizadores.

“Aquí se les brindará todo el material, por lo que no tienen que traer nada excepto las ganas de aprender y pasar un buen rato, pues una vez que terminemos de hacer la cometa, nos iremos a volarlas a la parte del campo”, concluyó la entrevistada.

Héctor Ruiz Mejía (Jocotepec).- Jocotepec expects a major influx of tourists during Easter Week, with a concomitant increase in economic revenue.  The 14 restaurants of the tourist – gastronomic zone of San Juan Cosalá known as Piedra Barrenada, located in San Juan Cosalá, are preparing for a return to “normal” after a drop of approximately 75 percent in sales during last year’s holiday season.

According to Víctor Manuel Loza Ornelas, director of Tourism and Artisan Promotion, after two years of a complicated panorama in the sector due to the pandemic, this year more than 18,000 visitors are expected during Easter Week. Loza Ornelas stated that the economic revenue expected is approximately 4 million pesos per week (about US$200,000), or 8,000,000 pesos in total during the vacation season (about US$400,000). This is double the 2,000,000 pesos that are normally generated per week. «The economic revenue in a bad season, let’s say, goes above two million pesos, but in this season that amount doubles», he said.

Saulo Rameño Castañeda, manager of the 42-year-old Bar Piedra Barrenada Restaurant, is also optimistic.  «The truth is that the last two years were very complicated. Although we were open last year, we did not take in what we expected. I estimate that there was a 50 percent decrease in sales. However, the outlook for this year is favorable,» he said. The businessman added that during the Holy Days this year, they will open longer hours, from 8 am. to 8 pm.  In this busiest time of the year, they host up to 600 diners per day.

The year that had the greatest impact on the drop in sales was 2020, when health authorities forced businesses to close their doors for a month due to the sanitary contingency.

Sofia Medeles (Ajijic).- To commemorate Earth Day, a group of activists organized conferences, talks and free activities to raise environmental awareness among citizens. 

The events will take place from April 22 to 24, in the Ajijic Cultural Center and in the terrace on the main square.

This first-of-its-kind event will have three days of different activities for different ages, including conferences, musical shows and a children’s art contest. One of the organizers, Noris Binet, shared that this event aims to raise awareness, educate and inform people about the environment. 

«It is important for the community to know about this first special event dedicated to the people who have worked for the protection of the area’s environment. We hope that the event will be held every year in the future, and that it will unite the people of the Lakeside area to be aware of the need to defend the lake and the mountains,» Binet commented.

Ajijic acting delegate Maximiliano Macias Arceo added that he thinks it is an interesting and good project to raise awareness and care about environmental issues in the area.

This event will be attended by the researcher Manuel Villagómez Rodríguez, the man who stopped the construction work on the mountain by the highway which left a scar on the hillside known as «the zigzag on the hill” and an activist for the protection of the lake, as well as Luis Valdivia Ornelas, who conducted a study on the landslide of the mountains of Ajijic due to urbanization in these, among a vast group of activists.

The event’s organizing committee is formed by Douglas Reid, Sihara Casillas Gaeta and Noris Binet.

Sofía Medeles(Ajijic).- There will be changes to this year’s Holy Week celebrations, including the living representations of the Passion of Christ prior to the Viacrucis, or Way of the Cross.

Jesus will ride a donkey on Palm Sunday as usual, beginning at 6 p.m. at Six Corners. But the route will end in Ajijic’s main square rather than at the parish of San Andrés Apóstol as in the past. The blessing of palms will take place at all Sunday Mass times. 

Celebrations of Maundy Thursday (commemoration of the Last Supper) and Good Friday will be at 7 p.m. on April 14 and 15. A Holy Saturday service will be at 8 p.m. All liturgical services, unlike previous years, will be held inside the church and not in the atrium.
