Jazmín Stengel. – The remodeled waterpark located in the center of La Cristianía Park opened its doors this Easter vacation season, with a partial cost of 700,000 pesos (about US$34,000).

Two slides and a public pool were rehabilitated for the use of tourists and locals. As of the closing of this edition, there are accessories such as benches and umbrellas to be added and painting to be completed.

The budget included the purchase of new hydraulic pumps for the maintenance of the pools and another pump to drive the flow of the slides, as well as sand filters for them. It was also necessary to purchase new valves and piping.

The waterpark ceased to provide services during the 2018-2021 administration. The current administration’s Civil Protection and Firefighters departments carried out a safety diagnosis, which detailed the reinforcements that had to be made in the metal structure that supports the slides and pointed out the specific points to be repaired and marked inside the slides.

At the end of the work, a safety review was completed and Civil Protection and Firefighters gave the go-ahead for the reopening. The facilities were reopened on Thursday, April 14, the first day of vacation. The facilities were closed for maintenance on Wednesday, April 20.

Sofía Medeles- Hace menos de un mes se colocó pasto sintético en el malecón de Ajijic en el área de juegos infantiles, el cual, el encargado de despacho Maximiano Macías Arceo señaló que, ha sido difícil de mantener ya que el descuido de la gente que asiste ha hecho difícil esta labor. 

Macías Arceo aseveró que, le ha costado mucho trabajo mantener limpio este espacio a su personal, debido a que hay algunas personas que entran a comer, a ingerir bebidas alcohólicas, en incluso propietarios de perros ingresan a este espacio, dejando los cánidos desechos fecales y orina, aunque es un espacio exclusivo para niños.

“Me han comentado molestos que, por qué no pueden meterse a comer o a tomar. Ya tuvimos incidentes donde gente de fuera dejó residuos de comida. Gente con perros, a veces dejan sus desechos, que son muy difíciles de limpiar. No se les prohíbe entrar y estar con sus niños mientras ellos juegan, pero sí que respeten esta área que es para niños principalmente”, manifestó el encargado de despacho.

Por su parte, padres de familia entrevistados, aseguraron que la idea del pasto sintético les parece muy bueno para la zona, debido a que aseguraron que les da tranquilidad por la seguridad e imagen que ahora tiene el área de juegos.

“Se ve mucho más bonito, pero además de eso, los niños juegan y corren mucho, entonces en una caída que les pase, al menos ahora tienen ese plus de no lastimarse tanto. Además, es un pasto agradable y suave, si se calienta y se caen, no hay riesgo de quemaduras, como en los pastos sintéticos de, por ejemplo, los campos de fútbol. Qué bueno que, por fin el Gobierno de Chapala se preocupe por la imagen de su Pueblo Mágico”, añadió un padre entrevistado.

Para concluir el área de juegos, Max dijo que aún faltan algunos detalles, por ejemplo, colocar las puertas del perímetro cercado y terminar de poner el pasto sintético del lado cercano a los baños, además de situar un letrero con las indicaciones de uso y cuidado del lugar.

Héctor Ruiz Mejía (Jocotepec).- Jocotepec’s boardwalk merchants reported low sales despite the Easter holiday period. Merchants in the 20 stores located on the boardwalk said that after two pandemic years, this holiday period has not generated the income they expected, as sales are down by almost 50 percent in contrast to previous years.

In spite of the fact that the projected economic revenue for this vacation season for Holy Week and Easter was $5,400,000 pesos, according toJocotepec Directorate of Tourism and Artisan Promotion Victor Manuel Loza Ornelas,  that goal has not been reached.

«The truth is that it has been very lonely compared to pre-pandemic Holy Weeks, even in previous years we were five people working here in the store, but this week there was only me,» said a vendor of nieve de garrafa, a Mexican sorbet.

She also said that one of the factors that could have affected tourism over the weekend was the protest that took place on Thursday, April 14 in Chapala, between vendors against the City Hall, since many tourists were unable to get through the blockade.

Another of those interviewed thought  that the poor sales could have been due to the  insecurity that has been experienced in recent months in the municipality.

«Fortunately this year we have had some sales, unlike other years, when almost no people came and many of those who came brought their lunch boxes,» said one of the vendors, who for years has sold hamburgers, seafood tacos and hot dogs.

Luck has not been so different for the boat tours, because in spite of having a good Holy Week until the cut-off on Wednesday, April 20, it was empty, say the personnel in charge of the boat tours.

«Now there are so many accidents, so much insecurity, and on Sundays the National Guard is here, and as a worker you do feel safer, but people are afraid and it is reflected in sales,» he concluded.

Jazmín Stengel.- The City Hall delivered umbrellas of different colors and sizes to the merchants. This despite the fact that the Urban Image project that is being implemented in the Chapala Malecon, specifically requires «metal umbrellas painted in brown, with a cement casting base and high-density green canvas with the logo of the Chapala City Hall printed on it.”

At the moment there are some brown, red, green and blue umbrellas, made of fabric and canvas, with metal structure and others made of wood or plastic, some with bases and some without. This is due to the fact that the Government of Chapala ordered only 100 uniform umbrellas to be made, but the merchants needed many more to cover their shade.

In order to comply with the umbrella issue, City Hall itself was forced to purchase other colors and sizes due to the lack of a supplier to meet the demand. City Hall personnel continue to look for the material with the same characteristics. However, the delivery date is now uncertain.

Redacción.- Como parte de las actividades por el nombramiento como Capital Mundial del Libro 2022, llegó la exposición El Museo del Prado en Guadalajara. 

Esta muestra estará exhibida sobre el Paseo Fray Antonio Alcalde, frente a la Plaza de Armas, en el centro de la ciudad del 23 de abril al 31 de agosto de 2022. 

En plena vía pública, los espectadores podrán apreciar más de 50 reproducciones de obras maestras que alberga el importante museo español, a una escala de 1:1. En esta se podrá recorrer por las diferentes escuelas de arte como la española, italiana, flamenca, francesa, alemana y holandesa estarán presentes a través de sus protagonistas del siglo XII hasta los primeros años del XX; así como conocer un poco de la historia de España, Europa y el arte universal.

La exposición “El Museo del Prado en Guadalajara” es el resultado de la colaboración de la Dirección de Cultura de Guadalajara, Centro Cultural España en México, la Embajada de España en México y el Museo del Prado.

Jazmín Stengel.- El balneario que se encuentra al centro del Parque de La Cristianía fue rehabilitado para abrir sus puertas esta temporada vacacional de Semana Santa y Pascua 2022, con un costo parcial de 700 mil pesos.

Dos toboganes y una alberca general fueron rehabilitados para el uso de los turistas y locales, con un gasto de 700 mil pesos hasta el cierre de esta edición, ya que aún faltan accesorios y detalles, como pintura, bancas, sombrillas, entre otros.

El egreso generado, incluye la compra de bombas hidráulicas para el mantenimiento de las albercas y otra que impulse el flujo de los toboganes, así como filtros de arena para los mismos. Válvulas y tuberías también fue necesario adquirirlos nuevos.

El área de balneario dejó de prestar sus servicios durante la administración 2018-2021. En la presente administración, Protección Civil y Bomberos realizó un diagnóstico de seguridad, que detalla los refuerzos que debieron hacerse en la estructura de metal que sostiene los toboganes, y señaló los puntos específicos a resanar y señar dentro de los mismos.

Al finalizar la obra, dicha dependencia volvió a supervisar bajo un control de seguridad para dar el visto bueno a la reapertura. Las instalaciones fueron reabiertas el jueves 14 de abril, primer día de vacaciones. Y anunciaron cierre por mantenimiento el miércoles 20 de abril.

Héctor Ruiz Mejía.- Con motivo del Día del Niño, habitantes de la comunidad de San Juan Cosalá se preparan para realizar el primer Festival del Papalote.

Este evento se llevará a cabo el próximo sábado 30 de abril en el malecón de San Juan Cosalá, con el propósito de revivir la tradición de la creación de papalotes para volarlos con los vientos de primavera.

Aunque la iniciativa nació, según los organizadores, con la idea original de pintar y decorar las bancas del malecón, creando una convocatoria abierta a artistas, al final se optó por revivir la tradición de los papalotes.

Fue así que se emprendió la tarea de encontrar patrocinadores y personas de la comunidad que han apoyado el proyecto, pues aunque los materiales no son caros, “si hay un costo por más mínimo que sea”, aseguró la entrevistada.

Según la organizadora la respuesta ha sido buena y agregó que, el festival se llevará a cabo sobre el malecón a partir de las 10:00 de la mañana y se tiene contemplada una participación de entre 100 y 150 niños.

El requisito es que los infantes deben ir acompañados de al menos un adulto, pues la intención además de unir a la familia, es que apoyen a los pequeños en la construcción de su propio papalote, para después aprender a volarlo juntos.

El evento, aseguró la entrevistada, será completamente gratuito, no será necesario que los niños lleven material, pues todo lo necesario para elaborar la cometa se les brindará por parte de los organizadores.

“Aquí se les brindará todo el material, por lo que no tienen que traer nada excepto las ganas de aprender y pasar un buen rato, pues una vez que terminemos de hacer la cometa, nos iremos a volarlas a la parte del campo”, concluyó la entrevistada.

Jazmín Stengel.- Desde el lago más grande de México, hasta sus montañas y Pueblo Mágico, el municipio de Chapala es el lugar perfecto para disfrutar de tus fines de semana. Si tú te encuentras de vacaciones por aquí no puedes dejar de visitar o realizar ciertas actividades que te harán vivir una experiencia única. 

Pero, si el gusto dominguero es reunirte con tu familia o entre amigos puedes visitar los hermosos malecones. La cabecera municipal cuenta con el malecón más conocido de la ribera de Chapala, donde las espectaculares vistas son ideales para la foto del recuerdo, además de contar con una zona comercial y puestos de comida. 

Otro atractivo es el Parque de La Cristianía. El parque más grande del municipio cuenta con comedores, áreas recreativas y desde luego vista al lago. Ideal para días de campo y celebraciones, cuenta con área de comedores con asadores y juegos infantiles. Este año se habilitó la alberca para uso de los turistas. El parque está ubicado por la avenida González Gallo, en la cabecera municipal de Chapala.

Ajijic es probablemente el segundo malecón más conocido de la ribera. Cuenta con extensas áreas verdes con asadores, además de área de juegos infantiles y diversos puestos con venta de botanas y artesanías. Además, por la calle Colón encontrarás galerías, diversas tiendas de ropa y artesanías, 

Los malecones de Ajijic y Chapala cuentan con muelles con embarcaciones que ofrecen paseos por el lago, a la isla de Los Alacranes o la del Presidio; esta última ubicada en Mezcala, delegación de Poncitlán. Los precios de los viajes varían según el paquete, número de personas y puntos de interés que el grupo deseé visitar. 

Las zonas gastronómicas y de bebidas también son muy concurridas por la extensa oferta de platillos elaborados a base de mariscos y comida regional, destacando el caldo Michi elaborado a base de pescado en Chapala. En la zona conocida como Acapulquito, en el malećon de la cabecera municipal puedes disfrutar de diferentes platillos elaborados a base de mariscos. 

Si tu gusto culinario es más exigente, el Pueblo Mágico de Ajijic cuenta con una extensa variedad de restaurantes que harán de tu visita toda una experiencia.

Para finalizar, el municipio de Chapala cuenta con una amplia variedad para atender al turista con más de 166 restaurantes y bares, además de 57 hoteles y un motel registrados, que harán de tu visita a la ribera inolvidable.

Sofía Medeles (Ajijic).- The purpose of this year’s Verbena Jamaica del Pasado was to support Manos Solidarias, a group that helps sick people in Ajijic. A total of 20 families of sick people benefited from the kermesse (community fundraiser) held on April 10. 

 Verbena Jamaica del Pasado is a local event that goes back more than 120 years, where typical Mexican games are played, traditional food is shared or sold,such as tacos, sopes, enchiladas, pozole, tamales,, all prepared by Mexican families  who have done so for many generations.

Although the group Pasión de Cristo, which is in charge of the organization of the popular festival, participated with two food and drink stalls, most of the stalls were from relatives of people with illnesses that require high-cost treatments and other medical expenses. 

In this edition the verbena extended much longer than usual, having food, drinks, desserts, confetti eggs, and lottery from 8:00 in the morning until 10:00 at night. In some of the stands they had to look for alternative food to sell to cover the longer schedule. The people who sold menudo, for example, at the end, sold roasted meat.

The papaqui, a traditional game that consists of throwing confetti eggs among the attendees, could not be performed, since the musical group did not know the song that is played during this game. Another tradition, the «light of the past,» in which the electric lights are turned off and candles are burned in lamps made of crepe paper to resemble stained glass, was also omitted since the short drizzle that occurred wet the lamps enough to make them unusable.

One of the members of Manos Solidarias commented that a donation box was also placed in the main square, in which a little more than four thousand pesos were collected and which was originally going to be distributed among the 20 families that participated. However, both the participants and the group opted to give that money to sick people who could not participate: Sara Enciso, Carlos Pérez Gudiño, Niño Santacruz and Jorge Vega.

Finally, Manos Solidarias stated that they hope to organize another event soon in order to continue supporting the sick and, for his part, Eduardo Ramos Cordero, general director of Pasión de Cristo, supported the idea.

Both groups thanked the contribution of the inhabitants of Ajijic, the tourists who joined in and the visitors from other towns for supporting the cause.

Sofía Medeles(Ajijic).- «Memo’s» is one of the most long-lived and emblematic local businesses in Ajijic. At 72 years old, its founder, Mrs. María Hilda Robledo Vázquez, shared the trajectory of her 52-year business.

María Robledo, better known as Mari, opened the diner when she was only 20 years old. She says that she wanted to start a business, so she started with tacos, then added menudo, until she got to what she currently sells, which is a variety of typical Mexican food dishes.

«Before being located where the business is today, we moved from two other places. Before, we were known as «Los Deportes» because we were in a place that was a sports store. Later, my stepfather made a contract with a brewery to put up the billboard, and since his name was Memo, they put it in his name. They said they were going to change it, but in the end they didn’t, and that’s how it stayed’ that’s how we became known,» the Mari related. 

Mari Robledo also said that she began to be recognized by the people of Guadalajara when she was visited by some godparents of one of her brothers about six years after starting her business. They told her that they would recommend her to people from Guadalajara, and people from Guadalajara have been coming to visit her ever since. 

«Sometimes customers come and tell me, I remember when my parents used to bring me here, and you are still running the business after all this time,» added the founder of the restaurant.

«Memo» has approximately 30 years on Hidalgo Street #25, in the center of the town, where there have been hundreds of tourists both local and national, and even international. 

Mari shared that she has learned that her clientele comes through word of mouth, and they always let her know that they were satisfied with her dishes, especially with the pozole, one of her best-selling preparations.

Since its founding, the business has remained very family-run. At the beginning, Mari worked with her sisters. Later on she worked with her children, Fernando, Laura, Virginia and Alejandrina, who supported her at some point. The last one helps her still. 

In addition, her son-in-law Francisco Romero and her grandchildren Izbia, Alejandro, Romina and Fernanda have joined the team; besides, María Elena Martínez, Corazón de Jesús Cerna and Guadalupe Pulido, are her employees who help her in the kitchen.

Although she finds the cooking business exhausting, María Robledo Vázquez hopes that the restaurant will continue for many years to come. 

«The business has always been a support to help my children get ahead and give them an education. My daughter Alejandrina already knows how to do things here, and she told me that she would like to continue. I hope she does.»

Finally, Mari thanked all her customers because they have always been unconditional and come back to the restaurant with pleasure.
