D.Arturo Ortega.- María Alcalá Ortíz fue coronada como la reina del Carnaval Chapala 2022 el pasado 25 de febrero en el Lienzo Charro, J. Jesús González Gallo, de la cabecera municipal. 

La reina del Carnaval 2020 – 2021, María Fernanda Ochoa Cárdenas cedió la corona a la nueva representante de los festejos, ante poco más de 300 personas; además de la presencia del alcalde, Alejandro de Jesús Aguirre Curiel quien acudió acompañado de la presidente del DIF, Erika Erín Torres Herrera.

María Alcalá, Anahí Mora y Esmeralda de la Torre fueron las candidatas del certamen de este año.

Fue la noche del 25 en la que María Alcalá, Esmeralda de la Torre y Anahí Mora fueron confirmadas como las candidatas del certamen, luego de varias nominaciones que surgieron en las diferentes redes sociales.

Luego de la presentación y dos pasarelas en el que las participantes lucieron un atuendo casual blanco y uno de noche en el que María lució su belleza en un vestido rojo que; el jurado deliberó a favor de la nueva reina de la fiesta más grande de Chapala.

Redacción.- Un millón 295 personas mayores de 30 años han acudido por el refuerzo de la vacuna contra COVID-19 a los distintos módulos habilitados en Jalisco, informó la Secretaría de Salud Jalisco (SSJ). 

Durante la semana epidemiológica ocho del presente año, que fue del 20 al 26 de febrero, un total de 77 mil 444 personas acudieron a recibir alguna dosis de la vacuna para protegerse contra COVID-19. 

En dicho lapso se suministraron 39 mil 657 dosis que corresponden a los laboratorios AstraZeneca, para segundas dosis y rezagados; 17 mil 296 de Moderna para segundas dosis; 12 mil 404 a laboratorios Pfizer-BioNTech para adolescentes; 7 mil 987 de la farmacéutica Cansino para refuerzo a mayores de 30 y 100 a Sinovac aplicada para segundas dosis.

Por lo pronto, la SSJ informó que la plataforma estatal continúa abierta para que la población de 30 años y más obtenga una cita y pueda acudir por la vacuna de refuerzo. Este día también hay citas disponibles para la cobertura de adolescentes de 15 a 17 años y para aplicar segundas dosis de AstraZeneca a las personas que ya les corresponde por fecha.

Respecto a la vacuna Cansino, que se está aplicando ahora como refuerzo la Secretaría de Salud Jalisco recordó a la población que se trata de un biológico aprobado por las autoridades sanitarias federales y contemplado dentro del Plan Nacional de Vacunación, por tratarse de una vacuna segura que ha demostrado su eficacia para proteger a las personas de las complicaciones graves y el riesgo de muerte por la infección del nuevo coronavirus.

De acuerdo con datos de la SSJ, en Jalisco, durante la semana epidemiológica 08 de este año se registraron 7 mil 986 contagios nuevos (45.2 % menos casos nuevos respecto a los reportados la semana anterior), para un acumulado al 26 de febrero de 564 mil 119 casos. Se reportaron además 192 defunciones para un total de 18 mil 861 muertes registradas en lo que va de la pandemia hasta el pasado día 26. Los decesos pudieron ocurrir días atrás, debido al rezago en la notificación por parte de los hospitales. 

Las Sayacas bailaron e interactuaron con espectadores en múltiples ocasiones durante el recorrido.

Redacción.- Luego de un año de ausencia y por motivos de la pandemia, el carnaval regresó al Pueblo Mágico de Ajijic con todo su colorido, creatividad y tradición, por lo que Semanario Laguna te comparte una galería de imágenes de Sofía Medeles que muestran cómo han sido los primeros tres días del Carnaval que en ausencia de los carros alegóricos, las Sayacas y Sayacos se han lucido como nunca.  

Cómo es tradición, decenas de jóvenes «cucaron» a las Sayacas con tal de que los «polvearan» con harina.

Desde el inicio hasta el fin del desfile, las Sayacas bailaron luciendo sus trajes multicolores.

Hay Sayacas que lucen coloridas faldas, son muy coquetas y se lucen bailando como las que se presentaron durante el tercer día de desfile.     

Los y las jinetes también son parte importante para que un desfile sea tradicional.

Arturo Ortega.- These dancers  represented the municipality of Chapala on Sunday, February 13, in the «Primer Baile Monumental Son Jalisciense», on the occasion of the celebration of the founding of Guadalajara, which celebrated its 480th anniversary.

The dance company participated with other groups from towns such as San Juan Cosalá, Jocotepec and the municipality of Ixtlahuacán de los Membrillos, who joined the 150 couples in the grand folkloric presentation that included four musical numbers.

Héctor Ruiz Mejía.- Cerró con cifras históricas tanto en recaudación como en participación la edición número 15 del Maratón Artístico de San Juan Cosalá, en el municipio de Jocotepec.

El evento que logró recaudar 655 mil 603 pesos, apoyará este año a once familias de dicha delegación en los gastos médicos mayores de padecimientos crónicos como cáncer, leucemia e insuficiencia renal.

“Mi agradecimiento para toda la gente que me apoyó en este Maratón Artístico, con efectivo o con especie; gracias, gracias, gracias, brindaron una luz para Lucy”, comentó agradecida Ana Lucía, una de las beneficiarias.

La cantidad superó por mucho las expectativas, aseguró Enrique Rodríguez Zamora, organizador del evento, pues la meta era recaudar al menos 300 mil pesos. En esta edición participaron más de mil 200 personas, tanto de la comunidad, así como de las delegaciones aledañas, quienes se unieron por una noble causa el pasado domingo 20 de febrero en la plaza principal de San Juan Cosalá.

Como ya es costumbre, cada año desde hace más de una década, los asistentes se congregaron desde las 10:00 de la mañana hasta las 11:00 de la noche para disfrutar de las diferentes propuestas gastronómicas, musicales y de entretenimiento, en beneficio de las personas con enfermedades crónicas.

“Estamos impresionados y conmovidos por toda la gente que se unió y formó parte de este evento que cada vez crece más”, reiteró Rodríguez Zamora.

Por último, el organizador recordó la importancia de ayudar a quienes lo necesitan, pues el precio de una quimioterapia alcanza los diez mil pesos y se requieren por lo general seis sesiones cada 21 días, por lo que en menos de unos seis meses el desembolso ascendería a los 60 mil pesos.

No solo el cáncer, pues los tratamientos para insuficiencia renal alcanzan hasta los 35 mil pesos por paciente, es el costo promedio mensual en terapias renales.

Unit 194 of Civil Protection and Firefighters that collided with the pickup truck

On February 10, Chapala Civil Protection and Fire Department truck crashed into a pickup truck while responding to a fire call in Ajijic.

«In the course, Unit 194  collided with a Ford Explorer Sport 2018 vehicle,» the report of the municipal fire department stated.  

The crash was minor and there were no injuries. The pickup sustained damage to the right rearview mirror and dash which will be covered by the corresponding insurance of both units. 

Despite the crash, two members of Civil Protection and Fire Department responded to the call on Zaragoza Street in Ajijic. A building measuring 15 by 3 meters (about 500 square feet) burned,  damaging a motorcycle. To extinguish the fire, the support of the fire truck from the Civil Protection and Fire Department of Ixtlahuacán de los Membrillos was needed, in addition to two other trucks from Chapala.

The fire left material losses estimated at 30 thousand pesos, according to the report of the corresponding day.

Sofía Medeles (Ajijic).- Semanario Laguna talked to a group of 29 Ajijic residents  last week, and found that  17  of them expressed their approval for the current  Acting Ajijic delegate, Maximiliano Macías Arceo. The conversations covered residents living between Six Corners, to the west of the town, and Flores Magón. Seminario Laguna interviewed 29 residents. The poll questions included:

1) Do you know the work of the delegate?
2) Do you like the way he has worked so far?
3) Do you think we need an election to choose a delegate?

Responding to  the first two questions, only two people disapproved of his work and management. As for the elections, 17 people preferred that Macías Arceo remain in the post, while 12 people said there should be an official vote.

Don Pepe, who lives on Álvaro Obregón, commented that, although he thought Macías Arceo’s performance was good, he also thought an election would be fair, «if the people have other options, it would be fair and legal to hold a vote, so that everyone feels heard,» he said. 

Another resident commented, «I like how the delegate has worked, the opportunities he gives, and the response his office has given to people who approach him asking for help. If there were an election, I am concerned that the person elected might not have as good a working relationship with the new administration in Chapala, and as a result, Ajijic might suffer. Or that the winner of the election might not work as hard.” We are fine with Max, and he is very supportive of the people,» commented another interviewee.

Eli, another respondent, believes that a vote is important. It is important that the delegate represents the different opinions of the population they represent. Although she thinks Macías Arceo does his job well, she would like to have the option to choose a delegate. 

Gaby, another resident, offered a different perspective, «it is important to vote, but in this case, I do not see another person more suitable or apt to do the job that Max is doing. He has respond to  several reports, regardless of the time, the place, or the person who is requesting. For example, the day the tree fell in the plaza, it was already about eleven o’clock at night; he and his wife were helping right away. Who else is going to offer that availability? The President will choose the best person for the job, but personally, I would like him to stay.»

Likewise, Adán added that he is very satisfied with the work. He believes Ajijic needs a proactive delegate. Previous ones have left much to be desired. «I don’t think an election is necessary since he has demonstrated that he can handle the position. It would be absurd to hold elections when we already have someone who has worked very well, and has demonstrated that he is up to the job.»

Municipal President, Alejandro de Jesús Aguirre Curiel stated that all current delegates will remain in place until the end of pandemic restrictions. This applies to the delegates of all five towns in the Chapala municipality: Ajijic, San Antonio Tlayacapan, Santa Cruz de la Soledad, San Nicolás de Ibarra and Atotonilquillo. 

 «As of October 1st, there will be office managers or delegados in each town, and as we go along, we will see about the election, depending on the work done by the office managers,» mentioned Aguirre Curiel before the start of his 2021-2024 administration. 

During his previous administration, (2001-2004), it was stipulated in the Organic Government Regulations that it was essential to call for delegate elections during the first three months after the current administration started, however, with the changes made in 2018, there is now no specific deadline to call for elections.

Héctor Ruiz Mejía(Jocotepec).- After low sales, the former street vendors of Morelos and Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez streets who were relocated inside the Municipal Market, have begun to offer their products outside Jocotepec.  The vendors have opted to sell their products in the neighboring town of Ajijic and even in Chapala to «make ends meet». 

After almost a month of having been relocated to the second floor inside the market, with the purpose of «cleaning» the urban image and freeing the streets from street vendors, their sales continued to plummet.

Traders consulted by Laguna shared that in the new modules the average daily sales do not exceed 40 to 60 pesos; although on other occasions they have closed the day «at zero». 

«The other day we had to throw away full boxes of guajes (edible green tree pods)  because nothing is selling here anymore», commented Ana. The almost zero sales have also had an impact on her sister, who was left homeless because she could no longer pay the rent.

«Now we have a full house, my sister could no longer pay her rent and they threw her out and the truth is that now thanks to our support she was able to feed her baby, otherwise we don’t know what she would have done, she hasn’t sold a thing,» added the merchant.

Although those affected expressed their disagreement and proposed to return to the streets, specifically to the market access bench or to settle in the private Josefa Ortiz de Domínguez street, the Government of Jocotepec has not commented on the matter.

Héctor Ruiz Mejía (Jocotepec).- For the third time in less than a year, the System for the Integral Development of the Family (DIF) Jocotepec, appointed a new director. 

Moisés Adrián Avelino Hoyos, a recent law graduate, took over on Monday, February 14, as head of the agency after the brief tenure of Angélica Melina Ramos Bautista, which lasted less than six months.

Previously, Avelino Hoyos worked at DIF Jocotepec for a little over a year in the Social Food Assistance Program for the First 1000 Days of Life, focused on supporting breastfeeding mothers.

«As they say, I started from the bottom,» explained Avelino Hoyos, who also spent another year and a half in the soup kitchen program. «It was there in the soup kitchens that I began my career as a public servant, before that I was the administrator of the San Jorge commercial passageway,» he added.

Moisés Avelino said he was thankful for the trust and the opportunity to be part of this department and said that he will work to meet the needs of the people, in addition to contributing to regenerating the social fabric of Jocotepec.

 «The truth is that there is a very difficult outlook, very complicated, but we will be here to support the people as much as we can and try to improve,» concluded the new director.

Jazmín Stengel.- La comunidad de Chapala develó una placa en honor a Jorge Luis Padilla Perales (1970- 2021), mejor conocido como el “Trokita”, el 24 de febrero en el Paseo de los Ausentes junto a la plaza principal.

Por iniciativa de los hijos ausentes, familiares y amigos de Trokita se develó la placa de 50 x 70 centímetros que honrará su solidaridad y memoria para la eternidad. Jorge Padilla fue conocido por promover y canalizar la ayuda de chapalenses emigrados a los necesitados del municipio. «Compraba las cosas o les daba dinero», afirmaron conocidos.

«Era humilde, pero de gran corazón», expresó su madre Margarita Perales Pérez durante el corto homenaje al hijo ausente que muchos apreciaban. La labor social principal de Trokita era recaudar dinero para ayudar a alguien más, haciendo kermeses, rifas y colectas de todo tipo, tanto en México como durante sus estancias en Estados Unidos.

Es por eso que, la descripción inscrita en letras blancas sobre la placa de granito negro cita: «Esperemos que con tus pasos sigamos trazando un camino a seguir, es el legado que nos dejas a todos los que te admiramos. Eres un ídolo, único y especial, por siempre estarás en tu rinconcito de amor, Chapala».

Incluso el presidente Alejandro de Jesús Aguirre Curiel reconoció a Jorge Padilla como un hombre que siempre llevó en su corazón un profundo amor por Chapala y su gente. Por tal motivo, instalar una placa en su honor «era más una deuda moral, que un compromiso oficial», externó el alcalde.

Sin embargo, la placa de granito negro solo es provisional, ya que se espera reemplazar por una, con el mismo diseño y tamaño, pero a base de metal y con letras en dorado, explicó el señor Padilla, padre del difunto.

Jorge es el primero de los hijos ausentes en ser honrado de esta manera, pero entre 1995 y 1997, durante la administración de José Guadalupe Padilla Castañeda, el pasillo al fondo de la plaza principal de Chapala, junto al mercado, fue nombrado “Paseo de los Ausentes” en memoria de los mismos y el apoyo que estos dan a su pueblo.

Ahora, este pasillo resguardará no solo la memoria del Trokita, sino de los que fallezcan en el futuro, ya que se planea instalar una placa a los más reconocidos. En la actualidad, hay muchos hijos ausentes sobresalientes, y para ellos habrá un espacio en el corazón de Chapala, así como ellos tienen a Chapala en su corazón, afirmó Aguirre Curiel.
