Jazmín Stengel.– Doce contenedores de pilas fueron entregados a las delegaciones de Santa Cruz de la Soledad, San Nicolás de Ibarra, Atotonilquillo, San Antonio Tlayacapan y Ajijic, el pasado 23 de febrero con el fin de reciclar estos materiales de alta contaminación.

La ubicación precisa de estos recipientes será publicada mediante redes sociales del Ayuntamiento después de su colocación, informó Elizabeth Oropeza Silva directora de Comunicación Social.

Jazmín Stengel.- Más de 300 personas acudieron a la última imposición de ceniza en la parroquia de San Francisco de Asís en Chapala el pasado 2 de marzo.

Durante la misa de las 7:00 de la noche, los asistentes no solo llenaron a tope el interior del templo, sino que se formaron a lo largo de la avenida Francisco I. Madero doblando en la calle Niños Héroes por poco más de una cuadra para recibir su cruz de ceniza.

Durante la homilía, el sacerdote Efrén García Sotelo recordó a la población que la cruz de cenizas simboliza el compromiso que se tiene con Dios y los propósitos que se impongan para mejorar sus vidas, y que el cumplir estas metas lleven a una paz interna.

“En esta cuaresma emprendamos un camino de conversión a Dios nuestro Señor, un cambio de vida… Por eso los invito hoy a emprender ese camino especial para caminar hacia Cristo nuestro Señor, tratando de arrepentirnos de nuestros pecados e ir mejorando así nuestra vida”.

 «Las obras de misericordia deben ser rectas y directas hacia Dios, sin hipocresía y quedando bien solo con el Padre Celestial, para poder celebrar con gozo la liberación del pecado y la paz de la pascua», agregó el presbítero durante su sermón. 

Al término de la eucaristía, los presentes dentro de la parroquia escucharon una lectura especial y oraron antes de recibir la esperada cruz gris de parte de los monaguillos, mientras el padre García confesó a los fieles. 

Al vaciarse la iglesia de las casi 100 personas que había dentro, la guardia de San Francisco permitió el paso a quienes esperaban afuera con paciencia, la fila que comenzó en el atrio de la parroquia era de más de 200 personas.

Jazmín Stengel.- En el cierre del carnaval Chapala, en la plaza principal, los organizadores aprovecharon para entregar reconocimientos a los ganadores de las charreadas y patrocinadores del evento. El mismo día se inauguró la exposición de fotografía histórica de Chapala, exhibida a un costado de la plaza principal durante las festividades con alegoría al carnaval. Tras un largo recibimiento por el cierre del carnaval, los ciudadanos de Chapala regresaron al Lienzo Charro J. Jesús González Gallo para disfrutar del último jaripeo de la fiesta más grande de Chapala.

Más de uno iba disfrazado de personajes o luchadores mexicanos para bailar frente al kiosko en la plaza principal.

La exposición ‘Chapala es tradición’ presentó un poco de la historia de la cabecera municipal en 21 fotografias a blanco y negro que se expusieron durante el Carnaval Chapala 2022, a un costado de la plaza principal.

Héctor Ruíz.- Se celebró con éxito, el Martes de  Carnaval “Confeti, Magia y Diversión” en San Juan Cosalá, en el municipio de Jocotepec.

Entre fallas técnicas, carros alegóricos que no pudieron presentarse y más de media hora de retraso, el desfile en el que participaron más de 200 personas, entre ellas alrededor de 150 niños, arrancó casi a las 5:00 de la tarde desde la calle Cardenal Sur.

Eva Longoria in Mezcala de la Asunción. 

Eva Longoria, an American actress of Mexican descent, visited Mezcala de la Asunción, on the shores of Lake Chapala on February 24th.

Longoria is working on a project to film CNN’s “Buscando a México» , a series about Mexican food, which will premier later this year. During her visit to the Riviera, the actress was at the restaurant Paraje Insurgente and filmed some scenes on the island of Mezcala. 

She was also captured eating a torta ahogada in the city of Guadalajara as part of the production. The actress will travel much of the nation for the project.

Para un embarazo saludable, los especialistas recomendaron a las mujeres prepararse tanto física como emocionalmente. Foto: SSJ.

Redacción.- Planear un embarazo saludable y que llegue a término en las mejores condiciones es posible y reduce los riesgos a la salud tanto de la futura madre como del bebé, coincidieron especialistas de diversas instituciones que participaron en el panel virtual “Plan bebé: Salud materna antes y después del embarazo”, convocado por la Secretaría de Salud Jalisco (SSJ).

Elizabeth Camarena Pulido, jefa del Departamento de Obstetricia del Hospital Civil de Guadalajara “Fray Antonio Alcalde”, indicó que en principio existe una edad idónea para el embarazo asociada a menores complicaciones: después de los 19 años y antes de los 30.

“En las edades de los extremos de la vida sí se pueden embarazar, pero ya marca un factor de riesgo que se tiene que estar vigilando pues se asocia a algunas complicaciones tales como abortos espontáneos, bajo peso en el recién nacido de madres en edades tempranas; por otro lado en embarazos en edad materna avanzada tiene un aumento significativo en el riesgo de anormalidades cromosómicas, abortos espontáneos, así como parto pre término, bajo peso al nacer, aumento de tasa de cesáreas, aumento de morbilidades y mortalidad perinatal”, dijo la especialista.

Asimismo, la ginecobstetra expresó que la mejor manera de lograr un buen embarazo es planearlo, bajo la estrategia de atención pregestacional. “Se trata de una consulta médica que se brinda a todas las mujeres en edad fértil en donde se hace un historial clínico en la búsqueda de factores de riesgo, mismos que pueden ser corregidos antes de iniciar un embarazo y con ello evitar riesgos en la mujer y en el bebé una vez que decida concebir”.

Camarena Pulido añadió que por otro lado, el sobrepeso y la obesidad se asocian a problemáticas durante el embarazo y al momento del parto: aborto, parto pre-término, diabetes gestacional e hipertensión.

“Un bebé prematuro puede tener muchas complicaciones que puede generar que a lo largo de su vida no sea completamente sano”, alertó

EL ASPECTO EMOCIONAL

Malissa Janette Herrera  Guzmán, especialista del Departamento de Prevención y Promoción del Instituto Jalisciense de Salud Mental (Salme) expuso que durante el embarazo se transmiten emociones por lo que es importante atender el aspecto de salud  emocional.

“Las emociones se transmiten al bebé por medio de la placenta y es por eso que durante estos nueve meses se tiene que procurar que la mujer embarazada esté lo más tranquila posible, ya que puede se ver afectado el producto y reflejarse (este daño) una vez que crezca el niño o niña crezca y presenta problemas de déficit de atención y/o de la conducta”, precisó la psicóloga.

Así como la mujer se prepara físicamente antes de embarazarse lo ideal es prepararse emocionalmente.

“Un embarazo inesperado puede generar depresión y ansiedad, problemática que se presenta en el 10 por ciento de las mujeres con esta condición, y puede ser previa o después del embarazo”, dijo Herrera Guzmán.

Factores de protección muy importantes para las madres son el acompañamiento por parte la pareja, relacionarse con amistades y familiares, expresar sentimientos y emociones y respetar el momento en que la futura madre quiera estar a solas con ella misma.

En su turno, Romina Campos Barrera, nutrióloga y asesora certificada en Lactancia Materna, informó que la mujer no debe subir de peso excesivamente durante el embarazo. “No hay que comer por dos, pero sí hay que pensar por dos, no se tiene que aumentar el consumo  de alimentos al doble y siempre se tiene que tener en cuenta que la misma debe de ser saludable. Los antojos durante el embarazo son normales y pueden cumplirse con límites. La recomendación es que acuda con el profesional de la alimentación porque para cada mujer es diferente el plan alimenticio”, recomendó.

Campos Barrera dijo que durante el embarazo, la nutrición es más importante que nunca ya que se necesita una mayor cantidad de nutrientes importantes que antes del embarazo. 

“Preferir alimentos saludables a diario le ayudará a darle a su bebé lo que necesita para desarrollarse”, precisó la funcionaria.

The municipal president, accompanied by directors and councilors of the administration, stressed that we must «work for a culture of peace that leaves behind violence and useless bloodshed. May the National Flag not only be a symbol that identifies us in the world, but a symbol that unites and brings us together.»

During the civic act that took place in the square located in front of the City Hall building, elements of the Municipal Police Department hoisted a large Mexican flag on its flagpole that unfortunately did not wave in the wind, because the air was still on that sunny morning.

Alluding to the emblematic colors of the national flag, the mayor spoke of recovering the green of hope and working to make it meaningful. He said, «Let’s move from conformism to action» and pointed out that we have to recover unity as one people and be as one family.

Elements of the Municipal Commissariat raised a large Mexican flag on its flagpole, unfortunately it did not wave in the wind, as the air was still on a sunny morning.

He also called on his team to commit themselves to fulfill the obligation they have with the people of Chapala and to bring unity internally and externally, in addition to seeking the balance and unity that the citizens have asked for so much.

«We need to know that the task we perform is very short and when we least expect it, we will be leaving. Let’s not get carried away by ambitions, let’s not get carried away by bad advice. The administration needs committed people…», he said. Likewise, the mayor reiterated his commitment and gratitude to the citizens for having entrusted him to lead the administration for the second time. 

The municipal president ended his speech with the desire that the colors of the National Flag once again symbolize peace, magic, the flavor of traditions, culture, gastronomy and the greatness of being Mexican.

Marcos Cortez Gómez is a great conversationalist about the memories he keeps of Jocotepec. Photo: María Reynozo.

María del Refugio Reynozo Medina (Jocotepec).- Jocotepec is one of the great loves of Marcos Cortez Gómez. In his living room with his mementos hangs a copy of the oath he swore to the patron saint Señor del Monte or Lord of the Mountain, for whom he has a special fervor.  Cortez Gómez is a member of the Guard of Honor.

There are also  portraits of his parents and him and his wife Juana de la Torre, who opened the first clothing store in Jocotepec in 1965. They had seven children, 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Nearing his ninetieth birthday, Marcos remembers the Jocotepec of his youth and one of the celebrations, the carnival for the bullfights of bygone days. “It was a most beautiful celebration,» he says, smiling nostalgically.

The carnival festivities began on Saturday and ended on Tuesday. Every day began with the mañanitas, the popular Mexican song sang on special days like saint days or birthdays, with a band playing in the streets. The invitation to the carnival began at eleven o’clock in the morning. This was a parade of the riders who were going to participate in the bullring with some tame bulls in the middle of the procession.   The parade ended at the bullring. This parade was traditionally called the “toro de once” or bulls of eleven, so-called because the parade started at 11:00 with eleven bulls. They held tryouts to see which bullfighters were going to fight in the afternoon. At the bullring they welcomed bullfight sponsors from Zacoalco, Navajas, Ahuisculco, San Pedro and Zapotitán.

The famous Ignacio Zaragoza Band from Jocotopec played classical and popular music. The promoter, Rodolfo García Ibarra allowed his house to function as a rehearsal hall.  The evenings ended with a serenade and dance.

At the serenade the women would turn one way and the men the other. There was an exchange of flowers or decorated, perfumed bouquets between girls and boys. Cortez Gómez remembers that while the band played El Papaqui, they would break the eggshells stuffed with confetti on the girls and their friends and they would throw streamers and confetti at them. 

The queen of the carnival was crowned on the last day.  The municipal president or the group of charros (horsemen) selected the lucky girl and her two princesses. All were accompanied by their escorts. The royal court made their entrance to the bullring in a carriage, went around the ring and then settled in their box of honor that had been prepared for them. They awarded the participants bands made with colored ribbons. Cortez Gómez was given a sash, and he had great pleasure showing off that trophy to his friends and the girls. 

The bullfights were at four o’clock in the afternoon. Sometimes the bullfighters came from outside Jocotopec and at other times, spontaneous bullfighters appeared and at the moment they ventured into the ring they became sometimes not so lucky bullfighters. The güero (blonde) Loza, was one of the bullfighters originally from Jocotepec. 

At the bullfights there was no lack of clowns with their jokes. One clown named Candelario, came from Pueblo Nuevo. Another clown was nicknamed La rata (the rat). The clowns had a great ability to compose jokes on the spot, Cortez Gómez still remembers:

The girls of Jocotepec, they are like the otate flower.

Very good at making boyfriends, but bad at using the metate [to grind corn].

Another joke was:

Don Fulanito de tal is a very brave man,

He keeps looking at his leg from underneath the platform.

Once the festivities of Shrove Tuesday [Fat Tuesday] were over and Ash Wednesday arrived, there was no more talk of bullfighting or festivities. They said goodbye to joy as bullring wooden beams were dismantled.

Cortez Gómez likes dancing and singing very much. He sometimes shared meals and songs with his friend, the singer Jorge Valente.  They loved each other like relatives, even though they were not. The composer Gilberto Parra was his cousin.

Don Marcos is a great conversationalist who also composes music while narrating a story. He raises his voice to sing. 

I’ll wait for you under the camichin trees, where the trucks go by

To go far away to unite our hearts.

I swear to you that our love will remain forever.

Cheer up chaparrita, you’ll see that you won’t regret it.

He has has written three ranchera songs that he keeps for himself.

he keeps remembering and raises his voice to sing with emotion:

Tonight, with the moon I sing you my illusions, 

I swear to you that my love is with good intentions.

«I am very grateful to God for having let me be born here and live here, in the land of my love,” he affirms without concluding, because Don Marcos Cortez Gómez has many memories that he would not finish telling.

Sofía Medeles (Ajijic).- In recent weeks, traffic has jammed Ajijic, both on the Chapala-Jocotepec highway and on Ocampo Street. 

This situation has gone from being a holiday and weekend problem to a daily one, making it difficult for those who live in the town to travel by car.  Drivers interviewed by Laguna stated that it is becoming increasingly difficult to drive in the Pueblo Mágico, especially during rush hour.

«Normally, from 2:00 in the afternoon until 4:00 pm, the road fills up with cars from La Floresta and traffic starts to become more difficult in Villa Nova (in Chapala). The problem occurs in La Floresta, where everyone starts using the breakdown lane, and when they try to get back into the regular traffic lane, they cause a small jam. Then on Ocampo and Guadalupe Victoria, there is also a traffic jam, not to mention Colón. I don’t know where so many cars come from and I don’t see a solution to the problem,» said Luis, a resident of Ajijic.

When the vehicle load intensifies on the highway, motorists opt to cross the delegation through the surrounding streets, mainly Ocampo, however, Ajijic residents also mentioned Colón, Zaragoza, Juárez and Guadalupe Victoria as shortcuts now being used to avoid the Carretera..

On the other hand, pedestrians interviewed complained that cars and motorcycles move at high speed during traffic hours, making it difficult to cross at corners and putting both other drivers and residents at risk. 

«The children here on the block go out to play, plus there are several dogs. Cars going very fast don’t stop to see who is in the street or who might cross, they think they are going down the road. They say that the traffic jam is due to the traffic lights that are not synchronized, and if that is the case, the authorities should intervene quickly, because it is not only the traffic, they can harm the people who walk on the streets», said Fany, an Ajijic resident.

Director of Social Communication of Chapala Elizabeth Oropeza Silva ruled out that the problem is due to the traffic lights, since they were all repaired  and synchronized at the end of the year.

Other problems mentioned by those interviewed include the knot of cars at the intersections with the highway, for example, at the intersection of Revolucion Street, where cars start to merge into the highway after crossing La Floresta on the side, or on Aldama Street.

Another native of the town, Antonio, commented that some years ago these were problems that were seen only on vacations or when there were festivities, but since the appointment of Pueblo Mágico, it began to become a daily occurrence, in addition to mentioning problems such as long lines at rush hour and cars of visitors that drive the wrong way through the streets.

Director of Social Communication of Chapala Elizabeth Oropeza Silva, commented that since the Carretera is a state highway, the Chapala government has been requesting more support from the State Government in the form of more traffic police cars and police directing traffic.

Councilman Hugo García Bombín next to the banners after the demonstrations in El Chante. 

Héctor Ruiz Mejía (Jocotepec ).– José Miguel Gómez López, municipal mayor of Jocotepec, in a video, accused FUTURO councilman Hugo García «Bombín,» of provoking disinformation among the community of El Chante, regarding the controversial work of connection to the water well. 

In response «Bombín»  published a video under the right of reply, where he argued that he was not inciting disorder and in which he claimed to be a man of the people.

«Yesterday (February 10), I was singled out by Mayor José Miguel Gómez López for misinforming the community of El Chante and now he says he will not solve the water and sewage problem because of the ‘disinformation’,» explained the opposition councilman in the video. 

The frictions between both public servants were taken to the Cabildo (council), since in the third ordinary session, held on February 14, José Miguel reiterated his accusation to the FUTURO alderman, of inciting the citizens to disinformation despite him having the correct information. 

He is «neither leader, the Messiah, nor Robin Hood,» asserted José Miguel Gómez regarding Hugo García’s position.

Backed by other council members such as Marisol Contreras Durán, from Morena, who lashed out at Hugo Garcia, calling him incompetent and lacking experience in politics. 

In response, «Bombín» reproached the Morena councilwoman for her «opposition» stance, which she swore to be invalid, by showing that her family was on the City Hall payroll.

The attacks against «Bombín» also was confirmed by a councilman of the same party, Israel Camarena Flores, who called him «unruly» and not a team player, since the councilman aclaimed «that all of them are workers of the people.»

Finally, after the attacks in the Cabildo session, «Bombín» assured that his intention has never been to misinform and he had no choice but to align himself with the majority and join in the socialization of the work and the dialogue with the reluctant community.
