Sofía Medeles.- El primer consultorio de aparatos audiológicos fue inaugurado el pasado 18 de febrero en la Delegación de Ajijic. 

“Oír Bien”, una clínica especializada en la evaluación, adaptación y mantenimiento de dispositivos para mejorar la escucha, se encuentra ubicada dentro de las instalaciones del Lake Chapala Society (LCS), en la zona centro de la población. 

La coordinadora de las Clínicas Audiológicas Oír Bien a nivel nacional, Gabriela Fons, comentó que el consultorio será un punto fijo disponible para todo público que funcionará mediante citas, con un horario de lunes, miércoles y viernes de las 10:30 a las 16:00 horas. 

Además, gracias a una colaboración con la marca Starkey, por cada compra de un auxiliar auditivo en el consultorio, se donará otro, informó Fons. Serán el LCS y el Sistema para el Desarrollo Integral de las Familia (DIF) Chapala los encargados de elegir a la persona idónea para recibirlo, a quien también le brindarán el seguimiento por dos años.

Sofía Medeles (Ajijic).- The Association of Charros will celebrate the Carnival of Ajijic, from February 27 to March 1, 2022 with equestrian and bull roping, riding, and tying events enlivened by musical groups in the charro ring. 

Ernesto Perez Reyes, the current president of the association, extended an invitation to the general public to attend the events. Tickets will be sold at the box office and the events  will begin at 4:30 in the afternoon. 

On the first day of the carnival, Sunday, February 27,2022, the groups that will perform will be Banda Perla Azul de Cuexcomatitlán, La Equidad Norteña, and Banda Estrellas del Lago. Tickets will cost 150 pesos per person. 

On Monday February 28, Banda Nueva Casta and Santiago Guzmán y su Astro Norteño will perform. Tickets will cost 100 pesos. Closing the carnival at the charro ring on March 1 will be Banda del 70 and Banda Auténtica de La Barca. The cost of tickets for this final celebration is 180 pesos per person. 

Perez Reyes asked that attendees wear masks at all times, and to refrain from going if they have symptoms of Covid-19. 

«In this ongoing pandemic situation, the guidelines and restrictions will be respected. It is this observation of COVID protocols that has allowed us to celebrate the carnival, albeit responsibly,» he concluded.

Redacción.- En lo que va de la temporada de estiaje, el Lago de Chapala ha perdido 36 centímetros, por lo que se ubica en la cota 95.75, al 71 por ciento de su capacidad, según la Comisión Nacional del Agua (CONAGUA).

Sofía Medeles(Ajijic).- Despite the modifications imposed by health authorities to combat the Covid-19 pandemic, the Ajijic Carnival will keep the usual schedule and route of the celebrations. 

Acting Delegado Maximiliano «Max» Macías Arceo announced  that there will only be three days of festivities:  the parades on February 27 and 28 and the Shrove Tuesday parade on March 1.

On Sunday and Monday, the sayacas, the main character of the festivities, will leave at 11:00 a.m. from the Campos family home, located on Hermenegildo Galeana Street between Zaragoza and Ocampo. They will take Zaragoza, Álvaro Obregón and Ocampo streets until they reach La Floresta in the east of the town. This year the Charros Association decided to omit the traditional «toro de once» and the reception or refreshment to avoid crowds.  

The Shrove Tuesday parade will also begin at 11:00 a.m.  crossing the town  on Ocampo, passing by the «Seis Esquinas» square, and taking Hidalgo to end at the main square of Ajijic.

Max Macías said that at least ten floats will participate, without ruling out the possibility of others joining in. 

«Few signed up, but some let me know of their participation informally. The parade floats will be arranged according to the order of registration to maintain order,» he added. In addition, he asked parade attendees to wear masks, as well as to try to disperse as soon as the parade passes.

«The Board of Health of Jalisco put restrictions on events  and far from ignoring them, we must make an effort to follow them. We are reviving traditions little by little and we want to do things right», said Max Macias

Redacción. – Alumnos y profesores de bachillerato y secundaria del Instituto Terranova arrancaron con el Torneo Inter Escolar Terrranova 2022 de fútbol soccer y tendrá una duración de siete semanas a partir del martes 22 de febrero.

El torneo contará con una fase regular de cinco semanas y dos para las semifinales y final, donde participan seis equipos mixtos, integrados por cinco jugadores cada uno.  

En el primer partido, el equipo Los Bichos se impuso sobre los Cuervos, cinco a cero. En el segundo encuentro, los Bomboneros obtuvieron el triunfo sobre los Leñadores Terra, dos a cero; y para terminar la primera jornada, los equipos Naranja Mecánica y Los Negros empataron dos a dos.

Sofía Medeles.- El multipremiado maratonista de montaña de Ajijic, José “Jou” González Valenzuela, también conocido como “Chabelo”, ganó el segundo lugar en la carrera Desafío en las Nubes (DEN) realizada el pasado sábado 19 de febrero en Xicotepec de Juárez, en el estado de Puebla.

Chabelo compitió en la categoría libre de 63 kilómetros contra más de 500 deportistas de todas partes de la República Mexicana, logrando colocarse en el podio pese a una lesión en la rodilla que lo había detenido de correr, por al menos ocho meses.

“No sabía cómo iba a reaccionar mi pierna con la lesión, pero armé un plan de carrera para poder salir la competencia. La carrera estuvo muy bien, aunque el clima estaba nublado y lluvioso”, compartió Jou en entrevista.

Aunque durante el DEN el maratonista ajijiteco sufrió un percance que le provocó una herida en la pierna derecha, terminó con un resultado satisfactorio. . 

“Me caí porque el suelo estaba húmedo y con mucho lodo, pero en el momento no sentí nada. Eso fue más o menos en el kilómetro 30 o 40. Más adelante me dolió, pero recibí apoyo médico y seguí”. 

De su equipo de corredores, Team Jou, lo acompañó Filiberto Pérez Vega, quien corrió en la categoría libre de 32 kilómetros contra 500 participantes, obteniendo el puesto 28. 

“El puesto es más de lo que esperaba, porque es una competencia con corredores más profesionales. Fue una experiencia inolvidable”, comentó Filiberto.

Ambos corredores agradecieron el apoyo brindado por el Consejo Municipal del Deporte (COMUDE) Chapala para sus gastos de viaje, así como al encargado de despacho de Ajijic, Maximiliano Macías Arceo, además de quienes los siguen apoyando y confiando en ellos.

La Laguna de Chapala, otrora bello enclave  que cautivó a sus pobladores originales, provenientes de Aztlán, por sus aguas transparentes y saludables, playas con arenas limpias, y  una variedad de peces, cuyas especies algunas han desaparecido y otras se encuentran en proceso de serlo, como consecuencia de la actividad humana.

El agua, es elemento fundamental para el desarrollo de la vida, en todas sus manifestaciones, y como tal, la laguna como humedal, cumple con una importante función en nuestro entorno, pues mantiene los mantos freáticos, la biodiversidad de los recursos pesqueros, estabiliza las condiciones climáticas controlando la erosión, la retención de nutrientes y sedimentos favoreciendo la proliferación de la flora en la región, lo que le ha permitido ocupar un lugar privilegiado en el enclave climático global, considerado por la revista General Geographic, como uno de los lugares con mejor clima en el mundo.

Actualmente es doloroso observar el agua de la laguna en las condiciones en que se encuentra por las altas concentraciones de desechos industriales, agropecuarios, desechos orgánicos, utensilios de plástico, etc.,  todo ello, producto de  la degradación ambiental por la proliferación de residuos no metálicos como el azufre y flúor, y metálicos que han propiciado la “eutrofización” que es una capa que impide la penetración de los rayos solares y oxígeno provocando una excesiva proliferación de materia orgánica como el lirio, y últimamente, una capa verdosa.

En atención a estas imperantes circunstancias, es necesario tomar acciones que contribuyan a restaurar la calidad del agua, y su biodiversidad, concertando acciones entre todos los municipios ribereños de la laguna, de aquellos municipios localizados en las márgenes de los ríos que confluyen a la laguna, para formar un organismo rector que se ocupe de verificar e inspeccionar que se cumpla con la normatividad de SEMARNAT,  de todos aquellos sitios que desalojen residuos contaminantes cuenten con las plantas de tratamiento adecuadas, que las zonas de cultivo, empleen métodos naturales de combate a plagas y fertilización, así como integrar un fondo para la compra de equipo de dragado y limpieza, además de una adecuada concientización a la población, a través de módulos de información donde se exhiban videos de los desastres medioambientales a la laguna, y la importancia de su participación en conducirse adecuadamente, instalando depósitos de basura… ¡Inaplazable!

Sofía Medeles (Ajijic).- In recent weeks, traffic has jammed Ajijic, both on the Chapala-Jocotepec highway and on Ocampo Street. 

This situation has gone from being a holiday and weekend problem to a daily one, making it difficult for those who live in the town to travel by car.  Drivers interviewed by Laguna stated that it is becoming increasingly difficult to drive in the Pueblo Mágico, especially during rush hour.

«Normally, from 2:00 in the afternoon until 4:00 pm, the road fills up with cars from La Floresta and traffic starts to become more difficult in Villa Nova (in Chapala). The problem occurs in La Floresta, where everyone starts using the breakdown lane, and when they try to get back into the regular traffic lane, they cause a small jam. Then on Ocampo and Guadalupe Victoria, there is also a traffic jam, not to mention Colón. I don’t know where so many cars come from and I don’t see a solution to the problem,» said Luis, a resident of Ajijic.

When the vehicle load intensifies on the highway, motorists opt to cross the delegation through the surrounding streets, mainly Ocampo, however, Ajijic residents also mentioned Colón, Zaragoza, Juárez and Guadalupe Victoria as shortcuts now being used to avoid the Carretera..

On the other hand, pedestrians interviewed complained that cars and motorcycles move at high speed during traffic hours, making it difficult to cross at corners and putting both other drivers and residents at risk. 

«The children here on the block go out to play, plus there are several dogs. Cars going very fast don’t stop to see who is in the street or who might cross, they think they are going down the road. They say that the traffic jam is due to the traffic lights that are not synchronized, and if that is the case, the authorities should intervene quickly, because it is not only the traffic, they can harm the people who walk on the streets», said Fany, an Ajijic resident.

Director of Social Communication of Chapala Elizabeth Oropeza Silva ruled out that the problem is due to the traffic lights, since they were all repaired  and synchronized at the end of the year.

Other problems mentioned by those interviewed include the knot of cars at the intersections with the highway, for example, at the intersection of Revolucion Street, where cars start to merge into the highway after crossing La Floresta on the side, or on Aldama Street.

Another native of the town, Antonio, commented that some years ago these were problems that were seen only on vacations or when there were festivities, but since the appointment of Pueblo Mágico, it began to become a daily occurrence, in addition to mentioning problems such as long lines at rush hour and cars of visitors that drive the wrong way through the streets.

Director of Social Communication of Chapala Elizabeth Oropeza Silva, commented that since the Carretera is a state highway, the Chapala government has been requesting more support from the State Government in the form of more traffic police cars and police directing traffic.

So far in 2022, Lake Chapala has lost 26 cm (about 10 ¼ inches) of water. According to data from the National Water Commission, Lake Chapala is at about 72% of its capacity, as of February 14th.

During the last rainy season, Lake Chapala gained 1.90 meters (about 75 inches), reaching 75.69% of its capacity; the level began dropping on December 18th.

Casa Comunal of Ajijic is located at Galeana #289

Sofia Medeles(Ajijic).– The president of the Indigenous Community of Axixic, or CIA, Margarito Rojas Mora, clarified that the remodeling of the Casa Comunal is being done primarily in order to protect the collections and to provide a more comfortable space for the community member meetings.

In addition, the property, located at Hermenegildo Galeana #289, will be able to be used as an event hall by the members of the CIA. 

The hall can also be rented out for parties upon request, with the intention of generating resources for the organization. Finally, Margarito Rojas reiterated that the money received was distributed to the community members and the rest was used for the remodeling.
